A resident of Tver brought two yellow carnations tied with a blue ribbon to the monument to the victims of political repression
The Central District Court fined a resident of the city, 33-year-old Elena, for discrediting the actions of the Russian Armed Forces. The trial began after she laid flowers at the monument to the victims of political repression.
According to the Internet edition “TIA Novosti” , the amount of the fine was 30 thousand rubles. The reason for the proceedings was that the defendant laid two yellow flowers tied with a dark blue ribbon at the monument to the victims of political repressions.
On January 21, Elena bought two yellow chrysanthemums at a nearby flower shop. According to her, she wanted to tie them with a black mourning ribbon, but they were not on sale, and she had to buy a dark blue one. After that, she took the flowers to the monument, which is located near the building of the medical school. Previously, the NKVD prison was located there.
In court, Olena said that she had seen information on two Telegram news channels that people were bringing flowers to monuments related to Ukrainian culture to express their grief over the deaths of civilians in Dnipro. She decided to bring flowers to the monument in Tver. Since there are no monuments related to Ukraine in the city, she brought flowers to the monument in memory of the victims of political repression.
In support of her position, she referred to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who himself expressed his condolences in connection with the death of civilians in Ukraine.
