“Just got back from Stockholm after completing installation at two customer sites for our SiriusX.3 LEDs. It was great to see first-hand how vertical farming is taking off in Sweden, with a focus on reducing the journey from farm to point of sale,” says Prashanth Makaram, Co-founder and CEO at Crocus Labs.

Installing their LEDs at both Nära Sverige AB, formerly known as Urban Oasis, and at Farmy Ab. Crocus Labs’ founding team, Dr. Prashanth Makaram, Markus Erbe, and Galina Gorshkova, are focusing on bringing a sustainable agriculture future by utilizing proprietary innovation. The team brings to the table a mix of skills from different industries and first-hand entrepreneurial experience from all three founders.

Prashanth had the opportunity to connect with Professor Michael Martin of IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, who is leading the research on the Life Cycle Analysis of vertical farms to improve the resource and energy efficiency of vertical farms.

Together with Michael, Crocus Labs discussed ways to deepen its collaboration and support the development of more sustainable vertical farming practices.
