The Government of Tajikistan has instructed relevant bodies to approve the new list of jobs where the use of women’s labor is prohibited.

An appropriate decree was issued by the Government on December 230, 2023 and was posted on the Justice Ministry’s website for legal information.

The new list contains 194 professions and types of work in two sectors of the country’s economy, where the use of women’s labor is prohibited.

The previous list of jobs, where the use of women’s labor is prohibited was adopted by the government’s decree on April 4, 2017 and contained 334 such professions and type of work in 28 sectors of the country’s economy.

The document notes that the decision to reduce in number of such professions and types of work is justified by “automation of production processes and improved working conditions” and “expanding women’s access to relevant professions and increasing income.”
